02-10-2024: A grand event titled “Clean Sea Safe Sea” by Anjuman Arts, Science and Commerce College, Bhatkal was organized on Wednesday at Mavinkurve Beach, Bhatkal. The directions of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) units of Anjuman Degree College, involving all teachers and students, in collaboration with Mavinkurve Gram Panchayat, successfully and meaningfully conducted the Clean Sea, Safe Sea” program by cleaning the Mavinakurve beach Bhatkal port.
On the last day of the fortnightly initiative ‘Swachchata Hi Seva’ or ‘Cleanliness is Service’ (02-10-2024), the NSS and NCC volunteers, along with other students, faculty, and staff members, participated in this large-scale event. They cleaned the beach by removing piled-up plastic waste and other garbage, making the beach beautiful.
The participation of Mavinakurve Gram Panchayat, along with our college, further added significance to the cleanliness drive. With the full cooperation of the Gram Panchayat, the “Clean Sea, Safe Sea” program became even more successful.
All the students collected more waste from the beach then the assigned limit for each student. The task of disposing of the collected waste was efficiently managed by the Mavinakurve Gram Panchayat. On this occasion, the NSS officer of the college, Prof. R. S. Nayak, explained the importance of cleanliness.
Later, Gandhi Jayanti celebration was held at the Gram Panchayat office, where all volunteers, along with the faculty, participated. The President, officials, and staff of the Gram Panchayat warmly welcomed the students and teachers of our college. The students were also given a brief introduction to the services and programs offered at the Gram Panchayat. During this event, the Principal of the college, Prof. Mushtaque Shaikh, spoke about the great personality of Mahatma Gandhi, his principles and the importance of cleanliness. Gram Panchayat Development Officers, while sharing the messages of Mahatma Gandhi, stressed that it is the primary duty of every citizen to keep their homes and also the surrounding areas clean.
