About NSS
A National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit has been actively functioning in our college. Our NSS unit has 100 volunteers. This unit conducts annual special camp along with daily programs.
In the daily program, much importance is given to the cultivation of trees in the college premises and the cleanliness of the premises around the college. Every Friday all our volunteers plant saplings, water it, clean the college premises and pick plastic in the College premises.
Our NSS unit organizes various programs in the college every year. It usually conducts programs such as Constitution Day, Environment Day, Youth Day, Voting Awareness, AIDS Awareness, and Women’s Day etc. Any event held in the college is supported by our NSS volunteers.
Annual Special Camp conducted by our NSS Unit every year is special. This camp is held for seven days in any one of the villages of Bhatkal Taluk. In this camp, our volunteers get a picture of the life of rural people and are able to understand the problems of rural people. Programs are also held here to create awareness about some essential issues for the people of the village.
Vision
The vision is to build the youth with the mind and spirit to serve the society and work for the social uplift of the down-trodden masses of our nation as a movement.
Mission
The National Service Scheme has been functioning with the motto “NOT ME BUT YOU” in view of making the youth inspired in service of the people and hence NSS aims education through Community Service and also Community Service through Education.
Objectives
- Understand the community in which they work.
- Understand themselves in relation to their community.
- Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process.
- Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
- Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems.
- Develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities.
- Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
- Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
- Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and Practice National integration and social harmony.
