Introduction
The Constitution of India provides for “Gender Equality” and the “Right to life and liberty” to all persons under Articles 14, 19 and 21. Thereby necessitating the need for protective measures that safeguard women’s rights and safety. The Women Empowerment Committee was established in the year 2021.
The establishment of the Women Empowerment Committee is indeed a landmark achievement to strengthen gender sensitization among the students to achieve social justice at the college level.
Aims
College tries to provide utmost care to stay away the gender discrimination by providing gender action plan with reasonable measures. To establish gender equality is one of the objectives of Women Empowerment Committee. This Committee works with an aim to create a gender sensitized community within the campus as well as in the society.
Objectives
Following are the objectives of Women Empowerment Committee.
- To help women students understand their strength and potential
- To create awareness among girl students about their rights.
- To assist girl students to achieve full potential in education and career through personal empowerment.
- To work towards changing societal attitudes and community practices by active participation and involvement of both men and women.
- To inspire girl students to attain higher education and get employment.
- To promote a culture of respect and equality for female gender.
- To organize awareness programs on gender sensitization.
- The provision of opportunities and programs for girls and women to be financially, mentally and emotionally empowered to promote their growth as individuals in their own right.
- To conduct seminars and workshop to impart knowledge of opportunities and tools available and train the women.
- To equip the female students, faculty and staff members with knowledge of their legal rights.

Functions
- Organise workshops, seminars, interaction programmes on health, safety, literacy, entrepreneurship, and legal rights for women on campus.
- Create awareness among men and women to sustain gender equity.
- To offer counseling services.
- To promote general well-being of female students, teaching and non-teaching women staff of the College and to provide and maintain a dignified, congenial working environment for women and enable them to explore their imminent potential in all aspects.
Role and Responsibilities of Women Empowerment Committee
- To review various schemes & programs of the Institute and to ensure the possibility in the aspect of women’s development.
- To promote all round development of women faculty, staff and students of the college.
- To conduct a survey within the college and collect suggestions/recommendations from women on issues concerning them.
- To periodically organize guest lecturers in the concerned areas such as health, legal, career, social aspects etc.
- To train women to acquire wide range of skills and knowledge and to develop and increase their social, economic and intellectual capacities for peace, security and prosperity of mankind.
- To monitor and counsel girl students.
- To conduct competitions such as presentations, elocution, essay writing and painting to encourage girl students to express their ideas.
- Above all, to ensure a secure and progressive learning environment for the girl students.
